Exploring advanced automotive tech at CES 2018
Organised by the Consumer Technology Association and running from Tuesday 9th – Friday 12th January 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, this year’s Consumer Electronics Show – more commonly known as CES – end this week, and we’ve been exploring the latest gadgets, concept cars, self-driving tech and connected vehicles.
Putting on a huge display to attract the world’s business leaders and pioneering thinkers, CES is the biggest consumer technology show on the planet, introducing us to a generous dose of game-changing innovation. It’s also one of USA Today’s 10 Best Automotive Shows and is at the centre of making cars safer and drivers more connected – but how do these huge unveilings impact our industry?
Well, last year’s show was attended by more than 184,000 people showcasing 4,000 exhibiting companies and 1,200 speakers, making it undoubtedly the world’s most influential tech event and highlighting how many eyes are on this global stage. This year’s was even bigger, and information on the event and its exhibits will filter down to millions of people on the planet!
At this year’s gadget extravaganza, the world was introduced to everything from 8K televisions and connected fridges to laptops and self-driving cars, even a rollable OLED TV from LG. A raft of new smartphones and ultra-thin laptops from a wide range of manufacturers emerged too, as well as robotic dogs, an underwater drone, a smartwatch that can be recharged by the sun, a selfie-taking drone that collapses down into a phone case and even a portable IMAX screen!
And then we get to the best bits as far as we’re concerned here at Modix – in the automotive announcements were BYTON’s electric concept car, an SUV launching in late 2019, and new creations from Toyota, Hyundai, Kia and Nissan to name a few. Explore this year’s new product launches right here.
These advancements in technology, most significantly for us in the automotive industry, completely transform the user experience, when going through the buying experience and also driving day-to-day.
